Why I Built This Website

5 min read

When I started building Booklynx, I could have just kept coding in secret and launched when it was "perfect." But that's not how I want to build this app.

Transparency Over Perfection

I've downloaded apps that claimed to have thousands of users and rave reviews, only to discover I was one of the first actual people using it. It feels dishonest.

I didn't want to be that developer.

Booklynx doesn't have any users yet. I'm not hiding behind fake testimonials or inflated numbers. Every person who joins this early stage is genuinely valuable to me.

Your feedback isn't just "nice to have" – it's essential.

A Two-Way Street

This website is designed to be more than a brochure. It's built for interaction:

Feature Voting

Instead of guessing what you want, I let you tell me. Head to the Feature Voting page to see what others have suggested, vote on ideas you like, and submit your own. The most popular ideas get priority.

Direct Feedback

When you apply for the Beta Program, you're not just getting early access – you're getting a direct line to the developer. I read every piece of feedback.

Your voice matters

Every suggestion, bug report, and idea goes directly to me. No support tickets lost in a queue. No automated responses. Just real conversation.

Developer Diary

Right here in this diary, I share:

  • Technical decisions – Why I chose certain technologies
  • Progress updates – What I'm actually building
  • Challenges faced – The real problems I'm solving

I write these posts because I believe understanding how the sausage is made helps you trust the product. When you know why I made a certain architectural choice, you'll have more confidence in the app.

Building in Public

There's a growing movement called "building in public," and I'm fully on board. It means:

  • Sharing setbacks, not just wins
  • Being honest about timelines (even when they slip)
  • Admitting when I don't know something and need to learn
  • Involving you in the process

The risk

This approach has risks. Potential users might think, "Why would I join an app that doesn't exist yet?" But here's the thing: if you join now, you're not just a user – you're a co-creator.

Why This Matters to Me

I'm building Booklynx because I love reading, and I was frustrated with existing tracking apps. But my reading habits aren't universal. What I think is essential might be pointless to you.

The only way to build the right app is to build it with the people who will use it.

What You Can Do

  1. Vote on features – Tell me what matters to you
  2. Join the beta – Get early access and direct influence
  3. Follow the diary – See the progress unfold
  4. Give feedback – Every suggestion helps
Every reader matters. Every vote counts. Every piece of feedback shapes what comes next.

Thank you for being here at the start. Let's build something great together.
